the infamous window problem

Ok all, I've got a 75 Brick and coming home from work had the infamous 
window problem...came off the track. I know there has been quite a bit
written about this but don't know where to find it. Are there any "permanent"
fixes for this problem, and how exactly does one go about fixing this the 
"proper" way?
