I have been over to Bob's shop a couple of times, since it's only an hour
away from home. I found Bob likes to improve and customize. Each time I went
there was a different car there with a differing amount of custom work. He
has molds for ground effects ( not my taste), and other parts . He also has
a custom hatch mod that eliminates the drain holes in the trough. It is a
nice mod and I have done it to my hot rod car. I've received other helpful
hints and mods from him (most are hidden) that are good improvements. I
always felt that Bob was more of a customizer than Terry but I guess it's
just up to the customer and what cars are there at the time.
The one big difference is that Bob's heater box fix is simple and cheap. He
just pulls out the foam between the two 'misaligned' boxes and seals them
with an urethane roof patch. he says all amc cars are 'misaligned' the same
and most of the airflow problems can be traced to that piece of foam
blocking flow and leaking. This is an easy fix while the dash is out, and
not too bad even when the dash is in.
I have a third approach... I bought a "new" 76 as my gennie car and am
modifying a beat up 75, that would of ended up a parts car or scrapped, as a
Hot rod driver. this way I have both ends covered.
