Yes, parts from other cars that are now over 25 yrs old. Every day items
are added to the "no longer available" list. Parts that were available just
3 mos ago just vanish into antiquity. Junkyards still remain a source for
some of the stuff. But you'll have to be willing to stalk around a yard
filled with rusted heaps and don't forget to bring your toolbox and some
Band-Aids. It helps if you've have a recent tetanus shot. There also
exists two restoration shops, one in Michigan (Bob Hoffman's), the other in
Virginia (Terry Tanner's), and they have a limited supply of some of the
more dear items that were specific to the Bricklin only. Both shops offer
their unique take on the Bricklin and individual solutions HTC in Canada
and here on the list also has some choice parts for sale.
Some parts have to be tooled or modified to fit the B. But B owners, like
any collectors or lovers of classic cars have proven to be pretty
resourceful. It is not an easy task. It can be very time consuming. And
it can be very expensive. It can cost next to nothing or an easy
$10-20-30k depending how particular the owner is, whether they want an
actual driver or a garage queen, and what condition the vehicle is found in.
Sometimes, a vehicle is better when found untouched as opposed to being the
victim of poor choices and cheap attempts. If you're shopping for a B, you
may want to find a Bricklin member in the area who can help you come to an
informed decision, and may even be willing to look at the car with you.
THAT can be worth it's weight in gold, and it's absolutely free. Well,
except maybe for a hot meal and a thanks. Oh, BTW, B's all leak water when
it rains. If anyone says their Bricklin doesn't leak when it rains, and
they will, they're either lying or they've covered the entire car in
silicone and drive under an umbrella and park it in a plastic bubble.
