Pinstripes and Decals

Anybody have any experiences removing pinstripes and decals from an acrylic
Bricklin body. It is my understanding that the acrylic is very durable and
can be buffed out but I'm wondering whether pinstripes or decals would
damge the acrylic and always show. As far as I know they have been on the
car for more than 10 years. 
Also would like to know what the current price is for the air door
conversion.
