I recently participated in the Mazda Revitup event. It rekindled
an interest in autocross for me. I used to run a Mark IV Sprite
and later a Mustang in the early 1970's. I was looking at the
car categories and found myself a little confused. I only remember
stock, prepared and modified and now there is street prepared,
street modified and several others. In which order, starting with
stock (from the least changes to the most) do the categories run.
I had to buy a new car a few months ago (my modified Honda Civic
hatch was stolen last year) and I would like to make a few changes.
I will probably only run it occasionally, however, and since I only
plan to modify it slightly, I want to make sure I don't make the
one change that will bump me into a category where I won't be able
to compete unless I make a lot more changes (I hope this makes
sense to someone). I want to run just above stock and if I know the
order, then I will be careful to choose the right mods.
