I had the pleasure of getting to talk with Sarah
Fisher for a few minutes during the week of the 2000
Indy 500 when she came over to the Cheever Pits. This
was shortly after she had qualified her car in the
field at somewhere just above 220mph. She looked like
she hadn't even broken a sweat.
I was intimidated just watching the cars race down the
main straight, across the brickyard, engines booming
off the rev-limiter at 228+ mph, and then diving into
turn one without lifting. I can't imagine the amount
of skill required to pull that off. And she thought
it was no big deal.
Yeah, who says women can't race?
My little slice of experience on this one.
