Where does all the weight come from? I would guess
these sources.

1. Side impact crash standards.
2. Front impact crash standards. 
3. Power steering, power seats, power mirrors, power
locks, power windows, power sunroof.
4. Mega watt oem sound system
5. Lexus inspired asphalt sound deadening materials
6. Air conditioning

3200 lbs is not bad considering the newest Civic,
Focus, Protoge, and Sentra weigh in around 2700.
