My Autocross related post for the day.
By Jake H.
Being Chris vs. being an HS driver.
Chris:
-You whoop all your competitors, despite their having orders of magnitude
more horsepower.
-All your friends think your ride is the coolest thing in the whole world,
that you're the luckiest kid in the whole world, and that you have the
coolest dad in the whole world. (All true.)
-You have a full sponsor.
-You get to wear a cool suit.
HS Driver:
-Up until a few weeks ago, you were routinely edged out by that old guy in
the Honda Insight with exactly half the horsepower. Now you're routinely
schooled, humiliated, chewed up, spit out, shamed, and disgraced by that
same old guy in a Mini that has 10% less horsepower. (Must be that Spanish
oil cooler.)
-All your friends mock your ride, and they mock you for being devastated by
kids on go karts. (Also all true.)
-Car insurance and payment mean you have to get a loan from your mom just
to pay your entry fee because you don't even have enough money to pay for a
date with your mom's bank teller.
-You can wear a cool suit. But it wouldn't do you any good, you pathetic
loser.
