"Dead Skunk" was sung by Louden Wainwright III (and covered by local couple
Elmo & Patsy) and regularly played by Gene Nelson on KSFO in the 70s.   YOu
can catch LWIII on "Undeclared" on FOX TV (he doesn't sing though :-( ).
