SCCA Divisional Solo II meets --at least one per SCCA racing
division--are designed to be qualifying events for the Solo II Nationals.
We're fortunate to have one fairly close to the Bay Area this year. Other
divisions have been known to set their events quite a distance from the
population center. You MUST enter a Divisional or a National Tour to
qualify for the Solo II Nationals.

In the SCCA's Northern Pacific Division, the Divisional Solo II Steward,
Katie Elder of Folsom, CA, is setting up a three-event series for 2000 with
the other two in Seattle, WA, and Boise, ID.

The Sacramento Divisional, June 16-17-18, is the series opener. What you
will potentially face is top drivers from other areas, a two-day format
just like Nationals, and maybe a little pressure to go faster. It's the
kind of event competitors thrive on. If you're wondering what the National
is like, the Divisional will be greatly similar with your best run of three
each day counting toward your final score. And there will be scales,
impound where you have to sit for a while with your hood and truck open,
and a Saturday night party. Don't over do it. Just because your competitor
supplies you an alcoholic beverage doesn't mean you have to drink it and
impair your second day driving.
In addition to qualifying for Nationals, the event awards trophies
per the rule book.
Seems like yesterday --June 7--was the deadline to enter at the $55
price for the two-day event. The late fee totals up to $82.50. Call Ralph
Elder at (916) 353-2732 evenings and plead your case. If they really need
your entry, Ralph MAY waive the late fee for a day or two. It depends upon
how much you sweet talk him.
