The SCCA STS Class will be run as a SFR Regional class starting in Round 3.
It will run in the same run group as Street Touring (R tires) class, which
in Round 3
is run group 7.
STS entrants will count Rounds 1 and 2 as drops -- so they will get only two
additional dops this season. Sorry, but that's the best way for us, and
anyway
STS has its own class.
STS cars running in Rookie class or Street Tire class will be indexed using
the
STR index for fairness to other competitors (If you don't understand why,
email
me and I'll clue you in). Since Rookies must run street tires, there is no
difference
between ST and STS Rookies - -they are all ST-R Rookies
STS cars running in PAX class (where street tires are not required) will use
the
STS index FOR NOW. Be advised that there is some controversy and this may
be changed in the future, retroactively. The controversy is based on the
idea that
some competitors have that there is no good empirical basis for an STS index
this year.
MARKING YOUR CARDS:
Check out the item about Street TIre on the web page:
http://www.sfrscca.org/solo2/news.html
It says: Street Tire entrants mark your car clasas on the card followed
by -Street Tire
spelled out, NOT the letters ST. That's because of the confusion with the
Street Touring classes. The addition of STS class makes this even more
important.
If you are running
- Street Touring on R Tires, mark your card with class ST
- Street Touring class STS, mark your card with class STS
- If for some strange reason you want to run Street Touring in Street Tire
class,
mark your card with class ST - Street Tire (Spelled out!)
- Street Touring in Rookie Class, mark your card with class ST-R (You must
run Street TIres)
(There is no difference between ST and STS Rookies.)
- Street Touring in PAX class, mark your card with class ST-X
- STS in PAX class, mark your card with class STS-X (You
must run Street TIres)
Confusing, ain't it. Well get it straight how you need to mark your card
and
do it right. Otherwise there is a good chance you get NO points, no place
in
the results.
