My apologies for being too general. I was referring to the people in
high places, often appointed and unaccountable, who cook up ideas like
this. By contrast, the people who actually WORK at the Ca DMV are very
helpful in general, even with oddball registration problems. There are
too many people putting forth ideas like this and it is easy to paint
everyone associated with them as "bad guys" without intending to. Sorry
Bruce

I take that as a personal insult. I'm damned proud of the service I
give to
the citizens of Saint Paul. I AM there to help them, and I will
continue to
do
it as much as the laws (written by politicians) will let me.
Now, about the actual subject here: This California GPS-tracking
proposal
is one of the most half-baked and ill-advised ideas I have ever heard.
Fuel
taxes seem to be a pretty good way of paying for transportation needs.
