That's interesting. I have a '03 QC Ram 1500 with a 5.9L, 4 speed auto, and
3.92 rear end and I get 11.5 MPG normally when towing my car on an open
trailer (approx. 5500 lbs. total towed weight) at 70 MPH. The funny thing is
I get about the same mileage when I'm driving city routes towing nothing
(around 12 MPG). On the interstate towing nothing at 70 MPH I get about 14
MPG. Down around 50 MPH I easily get 17 MPG. My truck's rated at 13/17 EPA I
believe.
