The August issue of Fastrack is available on the SCCA web site at
<http://www.scca.com/news/tech/fastrack/03-08-fastrack.pdf>. While it
isn't
official until August 1, there are a number of things that the SEB has
published for member comment that could be effective as early as 1/1/2004.

The comment period for these items will be very short, as they would need
to get through the SEB to the BOD in time for the BOD's August meeting in
order to make it into the 2004 rulebook. If at all possible, please get
your comments to the SEB before the July meeting, which will be Tuesday
July 22. Earlier is better, as that will allow more time for discussion
among the SEB and advisory committees.

Here is a short, incomplete list of items in this category:
- Changes to 8.2.1 and 8.3.8, protest fees and time limits
- Changes to 14.2.D, seat requirements for SP
- Changes to 14.8.D, camber plates in SP, also allow camber bolts
- Changes to 14.5.C or 18.1.E, shock absorber mounts in SP and/or SM
- Changes to 14.10, motor mounts and torque suppression devices in SP
- Changes to 17.8.C, camber plates in ST, also allow camber bolts
- Changes to 17.2.B, seats in ST
- Additions to 17.10G, engine mounts in ST
- Additions to 18.1.F, subframe bushings in SM
- Deletion of 16.6.F, numbers and class letters for karts (fall back to 3.7)
- Re-publication of the glossary -- please review to be sure it only
clarifies, and does not alter any rules.
- Changes to 14.2.H.c, additional braces for roll cages in SP
- Changes to minimum weights for RX-7 turbos and/or Corvettes in BP
- Changes to the previously published sidepod requirements for F500 in FM
- Removal of 17.1.B, update/backdate allowance in ST

Note that there are other proposals with later effective dates that I have
not listed here, as well as items already referred to the BOD, numerous
tech bulletins that are effective August 1, Nationals supps, and other good
stuff. The listed items are (some of?) the ones with a tight comment period
in order to make it into the 2004 book.

Thanks for participating in the rules process.

Mark
