I'm just guessing, but my guess is a primary reason is the folks in the
national office saw the need to re-invent the alignment this year.
It had gotten quite bad. Only three slick-tire classes Tue-Wed, 10 Thu-Fri
in 2002
Last year Stock had 6 classes Tu-Wed, 3 Th-Fri
SP was 3-3
Prep was 1-5 (My DP was the only P class on Tu-Wed)
Mod was 2-5
Street was 2-2
This year it is:
Stock 4-5
SP 3-3
Prep 3-3
Mod 3-4 (slick tire is 6-7)
Street 1-3
Much better balance. To get there, several classes had to go the same days
this year as last year.
In the long run ... A Good Thing. IMHO
What heat you run won't be decided until late August, after the deadline
before late entries kick in. But you know what days now and can make
reservations and travel plans.
