I've driven Street Tire cars in the cold mornings, and slicks tired cars in
the cold mornings. Guess which on suffers serious cold temp. tire
degradation in performance the most? Are you aware of how sensitive a CM
car is to temperature and surface conditions?
Fact is that I'm not motivated by competitiveness, PAX scoring, or anything
else like that. It is simply a major drag to show up at Nationals, and
slide around like I'm on ice in my C Mod car. It sucks. Running Street
tired cars in 48 degree temps will not hurt their performance nearly to the
same degree. So little in fact, that it really does not seriously detract
from the fun.
It's not favoritism, it's just a nod to the physics that exist. It's not a
big deal, I'm not likely to write a letter or anything either, it would just
be nice. Of course, no sooner than I get my wish and it will be 110 degrees
in the afternoon, and I will be wishing I ran in the morning!! :)
