First time I autocrossed was with the Wichita Region SCCA 1983. I was riding
around and saw the event being held and stopped in.
They tried to get me to race and I told them I doubt that they had a class for
my vehicle. They replied that they had a class for everything!
I pointed at my motorcycle and gave them a questioning look and the light dawn
on them ... no motorcycle class! Sorry.
I went home and got my 72 Mercury Capri and won CSP that day! (I think ... I
have slept since then ... ;^)
40 mph never seemed so fast until you are doing it around cones!

Okay, gang, some of us old fartz out here have stories from back when a
"tire mold" was better known as a chisel -- but ancient history is not the
total subject here.
Even newbies who have only been doing this 6-8-10 years or so (or less)
probably have some fun stories of first events. It's off-season. Good time
for such remembrances.
