I took delivery of my 2500hd 4dr duramax about 6 weeks ago. had a 2000

silverado 1500 ext 5.3 (4.10 gear) . the difference in the two are dramatic
the

gas (1500) avg. mpg 16.5 to 18.0 on to and from work and towing an enclosed

 20' trailer 8000lbs got 10.mpg. with the diesel i have gotten 19.5 to 21.
on the

same trip to work and towing 13.5 to 14.0 mpg with power to spare.

as to what Sam Strano says about brakes i concur. the hd'd have it over
the

1500 when towing. the duramax is quieter than the new dodge Cummins. i

know this because i work in a Chevrolet and Dodge dealership. had mine next
to

the Cummins and could not tell mine was running. the funny thing is as Sam

has said the 6.0 has some piston slap is true, gm has no fix, the 6.0 have

Been as loud as the diesel.
