Umm, yep. A 3 dB increase represents a doubling of the acoustic
power radiated by the source. A 10 dB increase is generally
characterized as "twice as loud," based on subjective studies.
A 7 dB increase in sound pressure level (SPL) is a substantial
one, but most folks would say that it's not twice as loud as it
was before.
