Back in the '60s this was true, but if you check with the premium pad
manufacturers they will tell you that the current pads do not off-gas
enough to create any need for gas release mechanisms

Actually drillings do the same thing as the slots, except that the slots do
not introduce stress risers that will crack the rotors.

The Lotus Elise owners email list have had a large discussion about drilled
rotors after a number of people had drilled rotors fail during track days.
The stress riser caused by the drilled holes caused the failures. Some
found drilled rotors with radiused holes to reduce the stress risers to
last longer before cracking. They decided that the only advantage to the
drilled rotors were for looks at the concourse, so nobody uses them
anymore. The ones who are really pushing there cars on the track and have
increased the horsepower to well over 200 are using slotted rotors now, but
they only need them for the track days.

If you want the radical looks and cool whistling sound of drilled and
slotted rotors for your Honda get a Sports Compact Car Magazine and you
will find places selling drilled and slotted rotors.

If you just want to stop faster in you Honda at and Autocross and don't
want to buy new calipers, go to EBC Brakes, or Hawke Brakes and check out
their performance pads. Both have pads that have high initial bite, and
don't need the heat to work. You want something that will give high
friction when cold for an autocross. For autocrossing the drilled and
slotted rotors can actually reduce brake performance since it makes it
harder for the brake pads to maintain optimum temperature. Road race brakes
don't work or need to work until the heat has built up, but they do need to
work when they are really hot.

If you really want to stop fast go to vented larger diameter rotors with
multiple piston calipers for more swept area and venting to cool, plus the
high performance pads. Of course then you may need to go to a softer pad
for autocrossing to keep the pads in their optimum temperature range.
