BTDT. One of my pet peeves.

You may not always be able to force a change to a feature such as this for 
strictly safety-related reaons, but that doesn't change the fact that, IMHO, 
it's stupid. The best course designs always give you the satisfaction of 
tripping the beam at full throttle.
