Why don't you ask your local competition?  The only ones likely to have a 
problems with it is them.  I don't think anyone would have a problem at 
all, especially if you mention it yourself to people at the autocrosses.  
That way they do not get the impression you are trying to pull something 
over thier eyes.  Good luck!
