Like all rules relying on subjective interpretation, it depends on the
officials involved.  IMO, simply standing on the gas and smoking your way
forward wouldn't elicit anything more than snickers -- because chances are
you'd get through the lights before you put any serious heat in the tires.
And that assumes there's no bend before the lights, which would really mess
that up.

I can't ever recall seeing a starting zone where there was room for much
zigzagging -- but weaving in the start box would be *really* questionable,
and stopping and/or reversing would at the least draw a warning.  Certainly
if it were me making the call, just on safety grounds.
