good point.
How about this: Why not have separate classes (mens and womens)
but show results as one group with an L in front of the ladies cars
(or some designator--doesn't have to be necessarily for the womens
group). The results might look like this:
OA CLS Num Name
1 T1 24 Joe
2 T1L 48L Jane
3 T2 36 Jack
4 T3 88 John
5 T2L 46L Jill
6 4 22 Jim
7 5 37 Fred
8 T3L 22L Sue
9 4L 18L Sarah
10 6 19 Sam
CLS designates your "Class" placing. "T" would designate Trophy,
"L" would designate ladies. Here the top 3 in each class would trophy.
I know other forms of road racing do this when they run multiple
classes together. They always announce the overall winner AND each of
the class winners.
This will solve what will become our ultimate problem: when women
become faster than men (or as fast) how will we crown a national
champ if the two classes (men's and women's) are running on different
days with different temperatures/track conditions/etc.?
