Actually, Sunday's weather has been pleasant compared to some events at
Devens in the past few years.

Our first event this year was snowed out.

Last year, our first event had (in order of appearance): downpours and 40
degree temps; sunny and bitter cold; snow. Mind you, this was all in one
day. It was also the first event of my first full season in CM and I was
questioning the wisdom of
getting out of stock and the wonderful heat that stock cars have.

We once had a thunderstorm where the rising hot air on the ground created a
whirlpool in the clouds as it travelled up. This same storm could be seen
advancing down the runway. There were no light showers or raindrops
preceding the storm. It was dry one minute and soaked the next.

We have had some nice weather at Devens. Last year's Tour was nice on both
days.

Those of us who live IN NASCAR country (North Carolina, etc.) learned a
Looooong time ago that it DOES NOT PAY on average to plan outdoor
activities a little East of a major NASCAR event on the day the Winston Cup
cars will be racing. Looked like the weather at Pocono was wonderful on
Sunday (of course, Saturday might have been bad there!)

If you keep having weather like you had Sunday for the Ayer tours I will
never return to Ft. Devens even though the first autocross I ever drove in
was while stationed at Ft Devens in the 1969 - 1971 time frame.
