OK, I'm trying to find out if a car I'm interested in is leagal for SM(which
follows ST prep rules concerning rollcages), since it has a cage which extends
to the front strut towers.
According to the SIIR Section 14.2.G "...roll cages in Street Prepared cars
must follow the same standards for interior modifications to accommodate the
cage installation as those which are applicable to Showroom Stock cars in Club
Racing."
Note, it doesn't say the cage must be "constructed" to SS specs(though, that
may be the intention).
Now, per the GCR, SS/IT roll cages are now allowed to pass through the
firewall. However, open GT and Sports Racers are allowed to.
So, if someone were to protest(at a Nat'l level event) would it hold? Would I
be better off asking for a clarification even before I buy the car?
Who should I contact to make my case/ask for clarification?
Thanks
