I would much rather have SCCA and Solo2 show up in
Arcade games and games like Gran Turismo than in a
movie like this.

Subject: "The Fast & The Furious" - bad news for autocross
A quick note from Peter Raymond got me investigating this
upcoming movie (to be released mid-June), and the certain
implications for Solo II:
The Fast & The Furious
Take a look at the website, and the trailer. In short, this movie
glorifies street racing, gang life, and thru something akin
to 'product placement', Solo II. In my opinion, two of those
items are NOT things to promote as wholesome activities,
and we need to find out who was responsible for associating
our sport with such a film.
This time, the recruitment efforts have gone WAY too far. It
is clear to me that using this movie to reach the type of person
that is portrayed in the movie, as potential Solo II competitors,
will change the face of Solo II forever, giving us the taint of
an outlaw, gang-related sport.
Will we want to continue to bring our children to events?
Will we need to worry constantly about the security of our
possessions?
Will physical intimidation and violence pervade the events?
Will we be forced to hire armed security guards to keep
peace at events?
It is terrible enough to have the Canadians and the E/P entries;
they are enough of a bad influence. I say "no more"!
Join me in fighting this menace - a petition for the Directors
of SCCA is online at:

Log in and sign up, for the good of the sport.
Thanks,
