Hi Bob-
I haven't attended the Derek Daly school, but I have seen 'em up close and
personal. It looks like a hoot! They use the "inside" road course at LVMS.
The FF's they drive look good, well maintained. Can't give you any personal
insight to the instructors. Sorry.
A couple of alternatives you can check out, however, are Driving 101, also at
LVMS and the Bragg-Smith Performance Driving School at Pahrump. I did the
"basic" thing at Driving 101, which consisted of a short chalk talk, a tour of
the oval and then they strapped us into "Indy Cars" and turned us loose for
some hot laps on the oval. The cars look like Champ cars, but have Chevy V8
power. The "driving experience" consisted of 8 laps, behind an instructor in
another car. Twas fun, lemme tell ya. (I went courtesy of North American
Pylon, BTW. Thanks, John and Pat!)
The Bragg-Smith school uses Vettes and Camaros. They have a road course
through the tulies out in Pahrump. (That's an Indian word for "cow peeing on
flat rock.") Actually, it's a neat setting in the next valley west of Vegas.
The course is fun, uphill and down, lotsa twisties, a good time can be had by
all. Tell Dave Roberts I said hello, and ask him about the "menu" from the
Chicken Ranch. . .
I guarantee any of the above would beat hell outta golf.
Hope this helps.
