Okay,
First of all, I apologize for the length. :-) I really do!
I'm hoping the great wisdom of Team.net can provide me with some insight.
In looking through the Mopar Performance catalog for potential 'hop-ups' of
my Neon, the obvious legality of performing each modification will
alter/change what class I would be eligible for. With that in mind, I'm
wanting to better understand where I would be placed with each modification
excluding the obvious ones (I think)
Here goes:
ECU - SP at least but probably not worth the money for the upgrade from
what I've read
Cold Air Intake - SP/STS/R any intake modification is allowed up to the
head (SIIR correct?)
Race header - SP/STS/R again, any exhaust modification is allowed provided
the cat is retained (SIIR correct?)
Camshaft - P/M only - no internal modifications allowed in SP/STS/R. I
could go with SM if I went this way, right?
Valve springs - P/M again or SM for same reasons
Street header - SP/STS/R same as Race Header correct?
Performance muffler - any class; modification to exhaust past cat is
allowed
Engine mount - fuzzy; it's not a solid mount so it shouldn't be M, but with
the higher durometer rubber, can't say for sure
Bobble strut - fuzzy again (you'd think I'd been drinking) same as above -
it's not a solid connector nor a torque supression device in one direction
only. It's a shock!
Urethane suspension bushings - Only the sway bar end link bushings are
allowed in stock to change, right? But in SP/STS/R I can change all of
them, right?
Front control arm & spherical bushing assembly - Totally SP/STS/R or is it
M?
EGR block-off plate - what impact will this have on a '99 DOHC engine? OBD
II problems? What can this improve for performance purposes?
Unorthodox Racing Underdrive pulleys (Not MP, I know) - any pulley system
allowed in SP/STS/R provided you don't change from V-type to serpentine,
right? That type of change moves it to M or P, right?
Again, I apologize for the length, but I'm wanting to make my ankle-biting
Neon into a Mustwang GT catcher (at least) yet still AutoX'able without
getting into EM.
Thanks guys/gals!
