I hadn't met Steve in person, Doug, until this past week at
Nationals. But he did call me the FIRST week he was on the job in
Denver and we talked for over a half-an-hour on the phone. He's
really serious about wanting to learn everything he possibly can about
our sport in as short a time as possible. He's already brought on
FRAM as a major sponsor. And he's just starting out. He's impressed
me more in just his first couple of months on the job than Nick ever
did during his entire tenure. IMNOSHO, Nick was aloof and far removed
from the day-to-day activities of the club. Steve, on the other hand,
wants to get down into the trenches and be a part of everything that's
going on.
As for your opinions, Paul, it's obvious from the tone of your remarks
that you're a pessimist. I, on the other hand, am an optimist. I'm
encouraged by what I've seen so far and I say, "Let's give the guy a
chance to see what he can do."
