Actually, it was in effect for one year - mid 80's I think. Fairly
liberal, but in effect none-the-less.
I was grandfathered in being the previous year's champion. At our
Divisional,
every driver (8-9??) intended on heading to Salina - but with the rules
in place,
whoever finished last could not go.
The rules at this site (Walesboro, IN) said that 2 wheels off the
pavement was
a DNF. Every run, I crossed the finish line & drove off into the grass
with
two wheels - hence a DNF for every run. With the collusion of Loyd
Loring,
who was announcing this Divisional, we had a lot of fun at the expense
of the
rules.
This was during the Dick Bonheim days at the SCCA office, I think.
