Reading between the lines:

The 2001 LS1 is rated:
300ft-lb@1000rpm
320ft-lb@1200rpm
340ft-lb@2500rpm
360 or 375@4400rpm

The LS6 has the same intake manifold, and is/will be:
385@4800 with the comment "its torque curve is slightly biased toward
the upper end".
Lets assume the torque curve is the same except shifted 400 rpm higher.

But, they improved the gearing:
    LS1/MM6 LS6/M12
    1st Gear 2.66:1 2.97:1
    2nd Gear 1.78:1 2.07:1
    3rd Gear 1.30:1 1.43:1
    4th Gear 1.00:1 1.00:1
    5th Gear 0.74:1 0.84:1
    6th Gear 0.50:1 0.56:1
    Reverse 2.90:1 3.28:1
    Rear P275/40ZR-18 P295/35ZR-18
    diameter 25.72 26.13

The difference in 2nd gear rpm will be
(2.07/1.78)*(3.28/2.90)*(25.72/26.13) = 29% higher revs.

So when the LS1 is at 1400rpm, the LS6 will be at 1800 rpm, exactly 400
higher, to the same relative spot on the curve. When the LS1 is at 2600
the LS6 will be at 3366!

Somebody check my math.

Regards,
Bob
