Strangely enough, while working the course at the harrisburg pro
I noticed something. It was taking a total of about 25 seconds between actual
starts.
o they had to use manual starts (I hate manual starts). The time between cars
which is normally about 30-35 seconds (total) was now 25 seconds.
If you count 10 seconds per car x 1200 runs on a side (200 entrants x 6 runs)
equates to 12000 seconds saved, which is 200 minutes or 3.3 hours. And thats
what basically happened. Each heat took about 1 hr less than it normally did.
Obviously for the above to happen the "effective" shot clock would be around 20
seconds. Everything went without a hitch.
I vote that the shot clock be changed to 20 seconds for subsequent events.
