In light of the past seven days events, perhaps we should take a step
back.
Payne Stewart, a week ago, and over the week-end, Mr. Moore, and 217
folks aboard
a Boeing 767. Two people had attained varying degrees of fame, the
rest were just
like you and I. I suspect the number of people lost from traffic
accidents, cancer,
and other maladies is overwhelming to each and every family touched by
a tragedy.
Our media will cover "name" people and the 767 as a whole. Not many of
us fly in
private Lears or where "work" is called: practice, qualify, and race
at 200 +. We
do however drive to and from work and occasionally fly commercial
aircraft.
Mr. Moore chose his profession. If I had the ability and the option to
call CART
or IRL or F1 racing my job, I accept the risk as part of the penalties
associated
with that profession.
In the grand scheme of things, if I had the choice of final
"deposition", I might
indeed prefer that it occur on a Solo II course or environment (I DO
NOT want
to go trapped in a building after an earthquake).
Mr. Stewart was on his way to his "job". Mr. Moore was working at his.
We all
don't want to go too soon, but if the roll of the dice says that your
time is up,
I'd like to be doing what I love ( Sex or Solo II :^) ). I know
TOOO much
information.
My heart does indeed go out to those nameless and famous. Pain is
pain.
Life can seem very short.
