I have too many cars on the property. I am offering for sale my red 1987 VW
Quantum Syncro AWD wagon and the black 1987 parts car therefor.
Red car is still a daily driver. The Audi 5-cylinder runs strong and smooth
with 135,000 miles on it. The diff locks work fine. The A/C does not work.
Shop said it was a leak in the evaporator. It needs a new radio antenna.
Interior is nice cloth. Driver door has some rust on bottom corners. This
car handles great stock out of the box. It does not understeer.
The parts car has all the options, including the coveted Sport Seats. It
would run, but I took out some of the ignition pieces, exhaust pieces and
the heater valve when I needed them for the red car. The air conditioning
on the parts car worked perfectly when I parked it, so I don't believe there
are any leaks in the components. The power steering pump is shot. When I
drove the car, even at autocrosses, I just got by without it. The car did
win its class at the first LOL/SCCA dirt autocross held under Solo II rules.
Still ran strong with 246,000 miles on it. Several spots on the interior of
this car are a bit ratty. I have sold some parts such as a sun visor and
the top-rack sticks. Unfortunately, the driver door is rustier than the one
on the red car.
Between the two cars, I have 12 of the 14-spoke 14x6 "GTI/Quantum" wheels
and several tires by Dunlop and Nokian.
$2995 for the whole works.
