Ok, I checked. Going into the final weekend of the San Francisco
Region's regular Solo2 season, I count at least 15 nationally
competitive drivers amongst those chasing 35 championship trophies.
Those drivers include 4 current or past national champions, one
former rookie of the year, and at least two other podium finishers.
13 of the 35 trophies will go to drivers with little sustained
competition. 10 more of the 35 will go to to rookies and regional-
only classes.
There are at least another 18 champions and 13 podium finishers
who have scored points in our regional competition but aren't in
the season-end hunt for trophies.
I don't consider 46 a very small minority when we only have around
100 running at least half of the events.
