Are you going to use it in a production based car? Or for a Formula car or
Sports
Racer? I used a Sony on my Formula Ford last year and I'm using the same one
this year on my March Sports 2000. I don't use a wide angle. If you are
going to use
the camera in a production car, I think it needs to be mounted as far back in
the
car as possible. This will give you the "Wide angle" effect without the depth
of field
problems encountered with the wide angle lenses. I saw some video from Jeff
Cashmore's car from last year. He had the camera mounted with suction cups to
the rear glass. This really gave the look of a wide angle lens without the
problems.
It also seemed to help dampen vibration. In a CM car(or any really stiff car)
its tough to get that Nascar quality without spending the big bucks for
something like the "RaceCam" setup.
Let me know, I've been down the road on this project, it ain't an easy one to
solve.
