Hello all, the meeting went smoothly tonight, no name calling or mud
throwing. We all came out with the shirts on our backs. Plus, we got some
business done. This is a new thing for us.
We had 15 members show up for our General meeting at the Double Dragon. They
are so nice to us there. Don't mind at all that we eat the all you can eat
buffet empty.
Frank started the meeting and we talked about sites and the June 27th event.
The event will be held at the American Royal complex just off of !-670 in
Kansas City, Missouri. Look at having a great time and the Chair and
Co-chair for this event will be Fred and Sharon Bybee. So look forward to
having a great course as well.
The people at New Century airport gave us a thumbs down on using that
facility. Fairfax is still in the works thanks to Mark Jacob's. The GSA
back lot is going to be avoided at all cost if we can help it do to the ruff
surface conditions. Mark Stewart is going to wait a little bit before
venturing back to the Woodlands and see if we can get back there. Arrowhead
is open to us for two events later in the season.
We talked about the Karts and Junior Karts. The club has decided to run the
Karts in Heat 3 at all upcoming events. The karts are going to run first in
that heat and complete all runs before we start all other cars in that heat.
Fred is asking for help from members in setting up for the June 27th event at
the American Royal. I will have the Motorhome and trailer there on Sunday at
730 AM, and Fred wants to start at 8 AM with the set up. If you are able to
come out and help it would be appreciated.
Starting with our next event we need to make sure that all cars in the Street
Tire classes are marked with the ST id's on the windows. This is to help cut
down on confusion in the Motorhome with Timing and Scoring.
We are going to go to a grid layout for the remember of the season as well.
If you are scheduled to run in a Heat we are asking that you pull up to a
grid spot and continue to use that grid spot throughout your heat. This is
going to help us make the event go faster.
The club has run into a problem with the length of the timer cables. We have
put it to the table, and voted on purchasing a longer timer cable. The one
to purchase will have 100 feet to the start and 500 feet to the finish. The
one that we have now is 200 feet each way, and we found out that at some of
the sites that we have this caused a problem with making the finish safe.
So, Frank is ordering the new cable and it should be here in about two weeks
for the amount of $234.
We have the Arrowhead Facility available to us again for July 18. The lot
rental is $1000 a day. The club has decided to rent the lot again for the
July 18 event. There will be a few things that are going to be changed for
this event. The entry fee's are going to be raised to $20 for members and
$25 for nonmembers. First time autocrossers entry fees will be $15. This is
to help off set the lot rental cost. Run / Work Heats will be assigned as
you register. So, if you are the first 25 people to register, you are the
first 25 to run the course. We are doing this in hope of making the event
run smoother and to get an earlier start. There will be two grids. A - Grid
1 and a Grid 2. If you run Heat 1 you park in Grid 1, If you run Heat 2 you
park in Grid 2. So for those that Work Heat 1 and Run Heat 2, your car will
already be in the Grid ready to go. We are planning on running 6 heats with
at least 25 cars per heat.
We expect to have a large turnout again and a great big course again. With
hopefully three cars on course at a time.
In other business news from some other local clubs that attended our meeting.
The Del Sol club thanked Crown for the help it received to put on their
event. The Alfa Romeo Club is hosting an Autocross on Saturday, June 19th at
the Crew lot in Riverside, Missouri. This lot is located off of NW Platte
Road and Vivion Road. The Porsche Club is hosting an Autocross at Station
Casino on Sunday, June 20th.
Well, I think that is all for now. Can't read the rest of my notes or someone
else was trying to write something and make me think I did it. Hope to see
all at an event soon. I can't wait to get out of town for a change, whoop it
up with the folks in Wichita at the Solotime event.
Till next month.
