Actually, the same engine equips the '93-96 VTEC cars and all '97-on cars --
the extra 5 hp in the later cars comes from a change in the exhaust
system -- which you'll change in SP anyhow.  The later cars have a
noticeably stiffer body, at the expense of an additional 100 lbs or so.

My choice:  Get a '92-'96 Prelude S, which is lighter due to lack of ABS and
weight-adding comfort features, but has the same suspension as the Si and
VTEC.  Replace the SOHC Accord engine with a 2.2-liter VTEC with aftermarket
intake and exhaust.  Bolt on the bigger front brakes from a '93-96 VTEC.
Put a *big* sway bar and a strut bar on the back to stiffen it up and reduce
the understeer.

Let me take a lap in it when it's done....
