Of course they are factory fasteners.  They fasten, and they were put in at
the factory.  They can hold down the seats, so the seats certainly MAY be
left in place.

It may not be true the seats MUST be left in place.  Consult the owners
manual.  If the manual says that the seats may be removed for normal,
non-racing street operation, than you may run the car either with or without
the seats.  If the owners manual or other manufacturer literature makes no
mention of removing the seats, you must leave them in.
