I'm a lot more concerned about personal injury too. But that doesn't mean
that I'm not _really_ concerned about "a munched wheel and suspension" as
well.
If you're willing to wad up equipment and like high speed stuff, then just
go roadracing and leave autox the way it is. I, at least, like it the way
it is.
