In this month's Fastrack, member feedback was requested for a
proposal to re-establish AP and FP as it was prior to 1997.
I concur with the proposal to segregate these classes, but with
rather than as it was, will propose the following:
AP FP
Elva Courier Alfa Romeo GTV V6
Honda Civic/CRX BMW 3 Series
Lotus Elan Chevrolet Corvair
Europa Daimler
Europa TwinCam Datsun/Nissan
Seven, 7A 240/260/280/
Super 7 (1340cc ) 300 Z & ZX
Super 7 (1498cc) (All Series)
Porsche Carrera 4cyl Ferrari (Dino & 308)
TVR Jaguar 6 cyl 1600
Mazda RX 7(All Seres)
1800 Pontiac Fiero
6 cylinder (1700lbs) Porsche
911/914
924S/ 944
(All Series non-turbo)
Toyota
Supra (All)
MR2 (pre 89)
Triumph
GT6/TR250/
TR5/TR6
Volkswagen
Corrado
The basic separation point in this proposal is that less than 1799lbs
is AP and over 1800lbs is FP. The weight for the TVR-6 has been decreased
to 50lbs lighter than the V8, thus putting it in AP.
All V8's ( Morgan+8, Shelby Cobra, Sunbeam Tiger, TR-8, TVR Griffith)
go to BP , but with weight allowances/penalties as fitting.
The Porsche 944 non-turbo has been added to Prepared in FP.
The Honda Civic and CRX have been moved from EP to AP (check the
results from the last couple Nationals).
And the Corvair's will have a place to play where they will be more
competitive - in FP.
I have forwarded this to the Prepared Comittee members that have
e-mail. Any thoughts?
