As Jean Kinser and Nick Leverone were thoroughly abusing us in the McKamey
Phase II course yesterday, my co-driver Tony noticed something strange about
Lucy's front wheels: they seem to vibrate.
Now, I noticed in the school that when Lucy and I entered some really hard,
torturous turn that Jean and Nick made us do over and over, that there was a
lot of vibrating in the front, which I thought was some sort of understeer.
It's just this really loud, b-b-b-b-bump sound. You can really feel it in
the steering wheel, almost like you're fighting it.
Tony says he could see it from the outside, and thinks maybe it's some sort
of A-arm bushing or something. It happens with both wheels, depending on
which way you're turning.
So, I don't know. I was thinking it's just the really large 225s pushing,
but now I'm wondering, maybe it IS A-arm bushings (something I know NOTHING
about). I was also wondering if maybe it's some wheel bearing problem.
Or again, maybe it's just understeer, and Lucy doesn't really like the
G-Force. This was a really pronounced bumping noise.
Nonetheless, I was watching Tony, and I too noticed that it looked like the
wheel was vibrating when under load. Any ideas? Is it our imagination, or is
this something to investigate?
Thanks much,
Katie
