Yes, the fuse pulling will work. The road racers in Showroom stock have had to 
do this for years as a mandatory thing and it is a part of tech.

I too loathe the idea of an inadvertant or uneccessary airbag deployment.

Here's a silly question:  Will removing the two fuses in my Neon's fuse
panel marked "airbag" deactivate the little grenades?
