FWIW the ABS on my '96 Miata will happily chirp the tires when it cuts
in.  It doesn't feel like the pedal is pulsing really, the tires just
lock and unlock very fast.  I understand pre-94 Miata ABS isn't quite
as aggressive.

One note is that most ABS systems don't have any way to know about
steering angle, lateral G's, etc. so are not smart enough to back off
the brakes and stay inside the friction circle.  If the ABS cuts in on
my car on corner entry I HAVE to release the brakes entirely, else the
car will not turn.  The ABS on the Chevy Corvette is supposed to be
able to do this.
