I cycled mine last year in fairly cool spring Wisconsin weather.  Maybe
40 to 45 degrees.  It will take longer to get heat into them on a cold
day, but I think you can do it.  I did basically a 20 mile slalom to
help work the tires.  (Be carefull!) Stopped every now and then to feel
if the heat was permiated through the tires.  Worked fine.

Are you worried about the salt on your car or the tires?  I've never
really thought about it, but I've not heard anything bad about getting
salt on your tires.  If you are concerned about that, I suppose you
could spray them off at the car wash.

I think you should try it.  Just keep working them until you they feel
warm throughout.  I think it will be worth it for you.  It would be nice
to get some seat time on them before going into a competition.  Good
