It sounds to me like the mirrors you want to mount are not very
appropriate for a British sports car. What you really want are the
Lucas type convex mirrors mounted on the wings (fenders). They go on
with a single hole, and are mounted over the center of the wheel.
They look very good and because they are convex, give a wide angle view.
You will see them on a lot of cars at British car shows. I have even
put them on some of my American cars.
