Back in the 1920s, Sunbeam was part of the
Sunbeam-Talbot-Darracq combine, with Louis Coatalen
calling the shots.
The cars were a bit more upmarket than Rootes
Sunbeams. Billy Rootes was not very popular with
diehard fans of those cars when he started basing his
Sunbeams on Humbers and Hillmans.
Of course Rootes was just an early adopter of the
platform sharing that just about every major carmaker
uses today.
