I had the same problem on a 350 Chevy in my old Caprice Station wagon,
but it was because the factory put on some soft manifold bolts and the
bolts just kept stretching and loosing up, then the gasket started to
burn. I replaced the factory with stainless steel bolts and never had
any problems after that.
