I think the big reason for the movement to web-based forums is the
perversion by spammers of the mechanism that made e-mail lists useful.
The
web-based forums provide email-address anonymity, and don't require
people
pay attention to the stream of garbage that seems to make up the bulk of
e-mail traffic these days.
Jerome, I haven't had any spamm for quite awhile. I had my ISP cure it
for me. Rarely do I have to dump something and it is usually sent by
"One of My Friends" or family.
So us that stay, can have more fun.
